Speaking of springtime and animals, this wise mama duck lays her eggs in the courtyard of my school every year. This way the ducklings are away from the foxes until they’re at least a bit bigger and have a better chance. This year there are 17 ducklings! They are fed and watered by the folks at the school…and the word is that once they’re big enough it’s a bit of a trick getting the ducks through the school maze and back outside. We’re going to wait longer this year than last year, because last year they let the ducks out too early and only two survived. Nature is harsh!
