I don’t know what kind of tree this is,

But it’s outside my gate on my way to class every day, and it has been so beautiful to watch as the leaves have come out:

    I think you will find it’s a Magnolia. I am so enjoying reading your blog. As an amateur, mostly self taught bookbinder, it’s fascinating to read about your course at West Dean. I am going to put you on my blogroll so I can read your blog regularly!

    Hi Diane, I’m glad you found my blog(s), and happy you’re enjoying them! I started as a self-taught binder…and bookbinding has pretty much become my career pursuit. I’m always happy to meet bookbinding enthusiasts :)

    I thought it was a Magnolia, but those “buds” are actually leaves coming out (no blossoms so far), and the leaves are a soft, light green with no shine to them. I think I’m going to update this post with more photos, now that the leaves are fully out.
